Nature and Wildlife

The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the Earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.

Protecting Mother Nature

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature’s Red list of Threatened species, established in 1964, is a critical indicator of the health of the world’s biodiversity. It informs and catalyzes action for biodiversity and policy change, essential to protecting the natural resources we need to survive. Currently there are more than 98,500 species on the Red list with more than 27,000 threatened with extinction.

Wildlife Education

How we teach

We believe speaking to young people in a language they understand is key to connecting and creating interest and passion for our non-human family. Terms such as “mean people”, and “not nice” for younger ages helps enforce the importance of keeping Mother Nature and her family, safe.

Children will participate in:
  • measuring their wing span and comparing the results to birds of prey
  • leading their herd of Elephants to water “miles” away
  • timing holding their breath and comparing with whales
  • delegating roles in the family and matching with the African painted dogs
  • and so much more!

What we teach

We at Mother Nature’s Heroes are constantly educating about our non-human family. Fostering this love in young people is essential in protecting our planet and all who live here, human and non-human.

Children will learn:
  • about the IUCN Red List of Threatened and Endangered species
  • Wild animals belong in the wild and why
  • how each life, wild and domestic, is important and precious
  • how many species exist –Sharks: 300+, Cats: 27+, Bears: 8…
  • how the animals survive in Mother Nature, finding food/water/shelter
  • protecting against predators, the elements and each other
  • the threat of humans: poaching/trafficking (taught to appropriate ages), pay-to-play exhibits
  • environmental concerns –pollution, climate change, deforestation
  • how we can help

Please note you may tailor you class to specific categories of species, or select a general wildlife class.

*not all species will be discuss in each class.
